5/22/04 The Rocky Mountain Race Way was awesome last night. THank you Sean, Craig, and Dan for being our roadies for the night (and a special thank you to Craig for giving us a safe place to pray before and after the show). We saw mostly new faces out there, but we surely rocked them all. The sound was great, our energy was great, the stage was bouncing and vibrating because we were rocking out so hard. Before we played the last song, Amnesia (which we dedicated to the lovely Brandie for inviting us out to play) I asked the crowd who would like to see me "fuck up my guitar" at the end of the song. Obviously we got a lot of cheers because...well who wouldn't want to see someone fuck up their guitar. So at the end of the song, I let out my final scream, Alec kept bashing at his symbols, Pif just made as much sound as he could...and I battle axe style raised my geeeeeetar up over my head and smashed the holy Be-Jesus out of it a few times. Kinda messing up the stage, and really messing up my guitar. After that we had people from X-96 come up to us and tell us that they were referring our names for the Big Ass Show! And that we were the "The tightest local group [they] had seen in a while". Also, we're going to be headlining the RMRW again soon, so keep your eyes open for that and we hope to see you out at the next one. also on a side note...you may have noticed that the links in the Much, much, more info section have been testy...but we've got that fixed so, GO CHECK OUT SOME OTHER OOTAH LOCAL MUSIC STUFF! 5/14/04 As anyone who was in attendance at the Murray High art festival today knows, we got canceled from playing. And as anyone who is cool that was in attendance knows, we relocated the show to Alec's garage! hah! And we would like to thank everyone for showing up, we got a lot of people out there today for a completely sperm of the moment show. And also thank you to everyone who bought a cd! Your support is ever appreciated...man, playing out of a garage reminded us of when we first started out...and when the cops came that was so cool! Oh man, good times, good times. 5/03/04 Happy Birthday June. Try not to get too drunk with those Mexican boys. 5/02/04 Half-Step is going to be rocking Provo Wednesday, 5. Check it out on the Live Shows page. Also, we have a couple more links up to some cool Utah local bands and venues. Oh man we rock! Much, much more info. 4/30/04 Not a whole lot of news is happening lately. The weather seems to be changing, sort of, and we have some shows for May lined up. You can check them out in the Live Shows section, and then check us out. We'd love to have you. 4/25/04 We know that it's been a while, but we would still like to thank everyone for making it out to the 4:20 Extravaganza! It was tottaly awesome. The bands we played with were tottaly awesome too. Rock sauce! We're currently getting together our live show schedule for the disgusting month of May, and as soon as it is up we'll let you all know. Keep checking the bands Journal to see what's happening with the boys, and as always you can feel free to contact the band to just say hey. 4/13/04 All of you should know about the show coming up on the 20th by now (if not you better go read all about it in the live shows section of the website). We want your input on what songs you think we should play, what are you favorites, what would you like to see at this show? You can contact the band and tell us what you think, because we're playing for you, we could just stay in the pit and practice by ourselves all day, but we want you all to have a good time. Make some requests Biotches! It's a celebration! 4/11/04 Happy Easter! There's all kinds of little eggs for naughty children this year! Let me just tell you about a few of them.
Now then, a special thanks to SPYHOP Studios, and Happy HUNTING! 4/02/04 NEXT SHOW: April 20th @ Kilby Court. More info in the live shows section. 3/27/04 THE SHOW TODAY IS CANCELLED! Yes, yes, we just barely announced it three days ago. But sometimes people are crazy, and in this case, people are crazy. 3/24/04 Half-Step is going to be playing a surprise show at Some Dude's playground in West Jordan this Saturday. (8021 S. Redwood rd.). Why is this a surprise show? Because we just barely found out about it ourselves! Also, in the photo section there is a brand new link to the photo album featuring the work of the unofficial photographer of the local scene, Liz. Here you can find live pics of Half-Step, Kohabit, and members from each band just chillin out and doing what they do. 3/22/04 Just in case no one knew this...You can get pictures of the local media whores: Half-Step and Kohabit from the band journal. Plus; it's fun to read I hear. 3/16/04 All apologies for the delay in updating of this site. We have plenty of good excuses as to why the delay has occured, but we're going to save our breath. Half-Step would like to thank KRCL Radio and Spy Hop Productions for inviting us to play the battle of the bands at Trasa on the 12th. It was an awesome show (and we're not just saying that because we won). The vibe was chill, and all of the bands were very talented musicians. A few favorites were TV, and Salty Roots. We hope to see everyone out at Kilby Court on the 20th. That show is going to be killer. 2/29/04 The Show schedule for March is up in the Live Shows section. We know that our shows have been pretty few and far between lately, but we're in the middle of recording, so just know that patience is rewarded. Also, listen to Live and Local tonight on 96.3 FM Between the hours of 8 and 10 pm. The incredible Brandie will be hosting as always, and who knows...there just might be some Half-Step rocking the joint. 2/26/04 Thank you to everyone who made it out to Johnny B's last night. Provo is far away from all of you Salt Lake City dwelling folk, so every single head in there was like a little gift straight to our black black hearts. We're also expecting From The Ashes to be done by this Spring, so there's something to look forward to. We have very rough cuts recorded to all of the songs except "who knew". Be expecting a final version of the song "From The Ashes" to be put up on the site in the next few weeks. 2/15/04 Time for an update of the live shows in the near future: Thursday, Feb. 19, 6:00 PM -- Kilby Court (741 S. 330 W) $5 at the door Wednesday, Feb. 25, 8:00 PM -- Johnny B's (177 W. 300 S.) with Kohabit $5 at the door 2/15/04 First, we'd like to apologize to our fans for the lack of updates recently. We definitely don't want to become the ultra-promising local band that alienates its fans by not ever updating. *COUGH* Sunfall Festival *COUGH* Second, there are extraordinary things happening for us; more than we could explain here. But to summarize:
Seriously, you may be thinking we're bluffing about that last bit, but Half-Step is a band on the ...grow! 1/7/04 Whew! I'm glad that year is over! On to the next! 2004 is to be the Year of Half Step! What do we mean, you ask? Check this action out: There's another Kilby Court show coming up Saturday, January 17th at 7:30. More details are to follow, and if you are one of the other bands performing that night, you may start salivating about being able to ride Half Step's coattails this night. You would think that conceited, had you not been at the last show. New photos are available in the (get this) Photos section, courtesy of our own graphic artist Alec! Dane is furiously writing in the Journal. If you are of age, come see just how furious he truly is! Soon, very soon, we shall coax Alec and Pif into also regularly updating to counter Dane's acid tongue. Truly, this is the band of the 21st century! Pif is just Pif, and if you know him, you know the way he darts his eyes around, constantly searching for inspiration, because his only pleasure is to rock your freaking socks clean off. 12/25/03 Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all the Half Step faithful! We have but two items to cover this happy Holiday:
That's right, T-Shirts for all! We have sizes ranging from Small to Double-XL for our Super-Sized fans. They are black, with the Half Step logo, elegantly simple, and only $10! We'll have pictures of our soon-to-be-famous shirts in action in the very near future, but if you're the type that has to have it RIGHT NOW (and we can appreciate that), send an email on down to orders@halfsteprocks.com right now! 12/9/03 All we can say is WOW. Thank you fans. We had a respectable turnout at Kilby Court on Monday night! What a great first impression for the crew over there, and if you weren't there, take comfort in knowing that any who attended had their socks rocked completely off. It was a helluva show. A special big beautiful thanks to special beautiful Brandie from X96, who brought a some class to the show! The other two bands, Theta Naught and Brilliant Stereo Mob, didn't even show up. That was sad, because Half Step put on an amazing show, and they weren't there to take a lesson in Kicking Some Ass. Even so, the plugs on X96 brought a few more people out, and we had a great group, and it was awesome that 100% of them were there to see Half Step. The Kilby Court crew extends their thanks to the fans of Half Step for braving the cold (and confusing directions) to make the night worthwhile for all involved. Needless to say, the band was enthusiastically invited back and were promised the next event will be much more solid. Once again, thanks for being the best, most crazed fans in Salt Lake City! 12/9/03 Be sure to check out the constantly updated Journal. If you're curious, check out this excerpt: "We're rock and roll...and some people can't get their "open minds" around that concept. These people were into indie s*** I'd bet...and Weezer. They think the perfect ingridients to a song are heartbreak, over-analyzation, and pretentious dickishness. Well you know what Half Step says to that? NAY! You m***** f******...NAY! We take your broken heart, your thinking brain, and your stuck up d*** and we throw it all into a blender until we have a nice sauce, then we pour the sauce over a little Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll casserole that we made. KAPOW BITCH! Now that's a song!" It's not bedtime stories for the kids, but it is consistently hilarious. Go. 12/4/03 If you have a laptop, you'll want to take it into the crapper with you, because we have much for you to read, and you can't afford to miss a single second. The first entries are up on the Journal, for the morbidly curious. For anyone in the universe who even remotely cares about the band, the new Press section contains a sickeningly in-depth interview about the origins and direction of the band. It's great reading. In addition, the size of our Newsletter list grows pregnant, as does anticipation, as the Half Step Newsly News grows closer to press time. Be sure to wash your inboxes for the coming of this holy publication. WARNING: The Kilby Court Show is already upon you. Mark your calendar? Ha! This incarnation of the Trinity of Rock will usher in the dawn of a new age of rock! This is not to be missed! 12/01/03 I have for thee these tidbits three:
Listen and enjoy, and don't forget to fill your Karma (and shopping bag) with Half Step Merchandise at our next show! In the meantime, read, laugh, and learn along with Half Step! | ![]() | |||||||||||||||
